Sir,

In acknowledging the receipt of yr letter dated 3rd Inst representing the insecurity of the bridge in the Botanic Gardens,2 I am directed by Mr Horne to inform you that as there is no vote at his disposal for the erection of a new Bridge, it will be better, to prevent accident, to shut up the bridge until a vote can be obtained, and to post a notice to the effect that it is unsafe.
