Gentlemen,

I have the honor — by direction of the Honorable the President of the Board of Lands & Survey — to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 5th Inst.1 soliciting his co-operation in the contemplated exploration of Central Australia; and, in reply to inform you that as soon as the Elections are over he will bring the subject under the notice of the Government; but cannot entertain it now.
