My dear Professor Balfour.

Mr Jam Thomson, on his voyage to Edinburgh has declared himself ready to take a parcel to you, & altho' I was desirous to forward bot-specimens & seeds to you, I could not find time to do so this time, but will not fail to avail myself of the opportunity of sending to you & to the scientific Institutions of Edinburgh the last vol of the R. S. of Victoria together with the completing fascicles of the fragmenta phytograph. Austr vol. I. The full supply of plates for the latter work being at this moment not at hand I must complete them hereafter & will send any adnl1 number which may be wanting in the respective sets.

I beg to intrude on you, praying to distribute the other volumes,2 freeling3 asking what I must consider myself immodest.
