Port Macquarie
18 April 1860
Dear Sir
I forward per post specimens of the "Inga"1 as also of some of the ferns, the "Inga" is a shrub growing on the Banks of the Macleay River2 and its flower when in full bloom is of a very bright purple color
The "parasite" referred to in your letter3 I will see to, & get if possible the same in flower. Dr Beckler obtained the specimen 50 miles from the Township but I have arranged to get it from a party residing here & may be able to do [all] myself about the time.
Yours faithfully
Horatio Tozer

Inga
Inga is a South American genus in the same subfamily as Archidendron grandiflorum.
M's evidently later label has 'Albizzia tozeri | Ferd. Mueller | Hastings River | Horat. Tozer', the name he used in B72.01.01, p. 9. The Macleay River flows through Kempsey to the sea c.15 km NE of the town. Kempsey is c. 50 km north of Port Macquarie.
Letter not found.
Item found with a specimen filed under Archidendron grandiflorum (MEL 0079775A). M annotated the letter below the valediction 'Pithecellobium Tozerii', the name under which he described it in B65.04.01, p. 10.
