Tas. C.S.O.1 24 April 1860.
Sir,
I had the honor of adressing a telegraphic message to you yesterday,2 on the subject of the anticipated arrival of 30000 Salmon ova from Liverpool for this Colony by way of Melbourne.
The only information that I am at present in possession of respecting the ova is that contained in my telegram, viz, a passage in a letter dated the3
"I am off to Liverpool to ship 30,000 Salmon ova just obtained for me in Wales; they go to Melbourne please make arrangements to receive them"
I anticipate receiving by the next mail detailed information as to the actual shipment, &c. but should the possible contingency occur of the arrival of the ova by some clipper vessel before the receipt of a further communication from me, the Government would feel much obliged if you would kindly act as their agent to receive the ova, & forward them in charge of some responsible person to Hobart Town, either by the Steamer, or, should no Steamer be on the berth, by some sailing vessel.
I have, &c,
(Sd) W.H.
