From Richard Tracy1    21 June 1860

My Dear Dr Mueller

I beg to recommend bearer2 to You, he is anxious to obtain an appointment in the Exploring Expedition3 — I know him to be an Excellent man —

Yours Very truly

Richd. T. Tracy MD

In a letter of 23 June 1860 addressed ‘To the Honble Secretary of the Exploration Committee’, Jabez Glover applied to be on the staff of the Burke and Wills Expedition. He named as his referees, the Chief Secretary and Dr Richard Tracy. M in forwarding it annotated this letter: 'Memo: Referred to the hon. Secr of the Explor. Committee | 20/6/60. | Ferd. Mueller' M made a mistake in the date because both Glover's letter and Tracy's cover note are dated later than his memorandum.
Jabez Glover.
Burke and Wills Exploring Expedition, 1860-1.
Glover was not appointed to the Expedition party; see M et al. to the Royal Society of Victoria, December 1860.
