From Alexander Fox   26 June 1860

Ballarat, June 26 1860

Dr Mueller

Dear Sir,

With reference to the now-forming exploring party,1 I am very desirous of accompanying it, and should esteem it a favor if you would advise me as to my course. I can recommend myself as a first-rate zoological artist, & can sketch well, & was when at home familiar with practical botany.

You are probably acquainted with my brother Dr Fox of Kew, & will, I hope pardon my addressing you without further introduction.

I am Dear Sir

Yours obedty

Alexander Fox2

M forwarded Fox's letter to J. Macadam on 27 June 1860. Fox was not appointed to the Expedition party; see M et al. to the Royal Society of Victoria, 1860.
