From Edmund FitzGibbon to Ferdinand von Mueller   2 May 1861

Town Clerk's Office

Town Hall, Melbourne

2nd May 1861

My dear Sir

Permit me to apologise for having left your note unanswered.1 I was unable to give any certain assurance of possession of the site of the tent to the good man who brought your note to me.

In reference to the tree guards the City Surveyor will be happy to deliver the materials of them, uprights, rails, battens &c, to any person whom you may send to the Town Hall for them.2

Yours very faithfully

E. G. FitzGibbon

Town Clerk

Dr. Mueller

Botanical Gardens.

M to E. FitzGibbon, 12 April 1861.

A reminder of the promise to supply the tree guards was made in M to E. FitzGibbon, 30 April 1861; this letter was acknowledged in M to E. FitzGibbon, 6 May 1861.
