Mein hochgeehrter Herr Doctor.

Ich habe die Ehre Ihnen hierbei die prima eines Beitrages von £7.17/- zum Heuglin Fond zu übersenden. Diese Summe ist, wie Sie aus beigefügtem Schreiben ersehen werden, grössenteils vom deutschen Turnverein zusammengebracht nur habe ich £2, von Herrn Dr Landvoigt in Sandhurst gezeichnet, noch hinzugefügt. Die Wechsel von £20. welche ich selbst zu dem schönen Unternehmen beitrug, sowie die prima eines Beitrages von £11 (wovon jetzt die Secunda folgt, sind hoffentlich bei vorheriger Monats-Post richtig bei Ihnen eingetroffen.

Es soll mir zur besonderen Freude gereichen, auch fernerhin für die Zuschüsse zum Heuglin Fond zu wirken.

Kann ich den wissenschaftl. Anstalten Gothas in irgend einer Weise nützlich sein, so zögern Sie nicht über meine Dienste zu gebieten.

My esteemed Doctor,

I have the honour of sending you herewith the first copy of a bill of exchange of an amount of £7/17/- for the Heuglin Fund. This sum, as you will see from the enclosed letter,³ has largely been collected by the German “Turnverein”,⁴ but I have added £2, subscribed by Dr Landvoigt of Sandhurst.⁵ The bills of exchange for £20. which I have myself contributed to this laudable enterprise, and the first copy of a bill of exchange for the amount of £11 (of which the second follows herewith) will I trust have reached you safely by last month’s mail.

It will give me the greatest pleasure to continue to collect contributions for the Heuglin Fund.

If I can be of use in any way to the scientific institutions of Gotha, please do not hesitate to command my services.
