Melb. bot Gard 20/2/62
My dear Professor De Candolle.
Allow me to enclose two species of lonidium and to ask you, to compare them with the Pigea filiformis of your great and immortal parent.1
I am anxious to avoid an error in the interpretation of the species. I have no doubt that P. Banksiana is the same as I. enneaspermum Vent. (I. suffruticosum Ging.) — on the other hand I. calycinum is evidently the same as I. glaucum Candl (Vlamingia Australasica Vriese).
I have just completed the 1 vol. of "plants indigenous to the colony of Victoria"2 Thalamiflorae 240 pages 4; 23 plates. also the 2 vol. of the Fragm. phytogr. Austr.,3 which works I shall have much pleasure in sending you.
May I ask, how far you proceeded with your Euphorbiaceae!4 I have many interesting plants of the order from tropical Australia in our herbarium here and am ready to place them at your disposal if you desire it.
With sentiments of the highest regard & best wishes for your health, I remain,
dear Professor
yours
Ferd. Mueller
