From Ferdinand von Mueller to Joannes Bernardin   24 Mar 1862

Melbourne im bot. u. zoolog. Garten

24/3/62

Hochverehrter Herr Professor

Hochachtungsvoll

der Ihre

Ferd Mueller,

M.D., Ph D., FRS.

Director.

Melbourne Botanic and Zoological Garden,

24 March 1862.

Revered Professor,

I have the honour of sending you a number of timber samples for your Museum through your cousin, Captain Uyttenhoven of the ship Succès .1

The enclosed list will provide you with the specific names.2

Mr Linden also wished to obtain timber samples from us, but has not made us any offers, although I do not doubt that he would be willing to send reciprocal transmissions. If the pieces are too large for you, would you please share them with this gentleman.

Personally I should prefer dried plants for our State collections in exchange, also any scientific works in the field of new botanical literature or in any branch of the applied natural sciences.

Permit me to assure you, that I would be pleased to contribute to your scientific institutes as a collector.

Respectfully your

Ferd. Mueller.

M.D., Ph.D., F.R.S.,

Director.

Professor Bernardin
