From Ferdinand von Mueller to William Stawell   12 June 1862

12/6/62

Dear Sir William

By last mail I was requested in a letter from Sir Will. Denison1 to ascertain, whether not any copies of Jerdons forthcoming work on the birds of India2 could be subscribed for in this colony, and I beg therefore to ask, whether not perhaps the Library might be enriched by this work. I would beg to recommend it to your friendly consideration, in as much as manifold relations exist between the ornithology of India & this country and thus such a work as Mr Jerdons would be of importance to the Australian Student.

The price of this publication appears to me moderate.3

With sentiments of highest regard

dear Sir William

your obed.

Ferd Mueller

His Honor Sir Will. Stawell, Kn
