From Ferdinand von Mueller to John O'Shanassy   18 July 1862

Melbourne botanic Garden,

18 July 1862

Sir

I have the honor to solicit, that you will be pleased to sanction the transfer of the sum of seventy pounds Sterling (£70.- .-) from the vote of publishing works on indigenous plants to the vote for stores, in order to enable me to obtain 12,000 flowerpots for the transplantation of pines and other rare plants in our nurseries. The store-vote for 1862 being nearly exhausted, I regard the transfer above referred to as the only one, by which the necessary supply of the pots could be obtained for my department. I beg further to observe, that the transplantation of the pines requires to be effected at this season, and that for the purpose the pots will be indispensible. The latter however will be a valuable property of this establishment, available for repeated use.

I have the honor to be,

Sir

your obedient and humble servant

Ferd. Mueller.

The honorable the Chief Secretary1

Approval for M's request was annotated to this letter.
