To Joseph Hooker1    26 September 1862

26/9/62

Dear Dr Hooker

Just when finishing my correspondence for Kew, I received the books out of the library of your reverend father in law.2 It is a most excellent acquisition, valued higher since it was once Prof Henslows possession.3 All the books are so well kept. I have directed Mr Pamplin not to allow you to be under expense for the additional bindings &c. There is also I believe a Saldo due to you, which I will liquidate when remitting for the 10 copies of the genera.

Ever your attached

Ferd Mueller

See M to J. Hooker, 24 January 1862. The Library at the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne contains several works once owned by Henslow, for example, Vaillant (1727).
