From Henry Barkly   16 July 1863

16th July 1863.

Dear Dr Mueller,

I have to congratulate you on the further recognition of the services you have rendered to the cause of science announced in your letter of the 14th inst.

As I informed you in regard to the Legion of Honor, it is not in my power to authorize you as a British subject either to accept or wear the Order of Danebrog1 which H. M. the King of Denmark has been graciously pleased to confer upon you, but I shall have great pleasure now, as then, in applying for the Queen's permission by the next mail.

Believe me

yours faithfully

(sd) Henry Barkly

Dr Mueller
