To William Hooker   19 August 1863

Melbourne bot Garden

19/8/63

Dear Sir William.

Case N. 15 is shipped pr True Briton to day, freight paid as usual. It contains Leguminosae to be revised for Mr Benthams work. As1 I have been obliged in consequence of so many other engagements to allow Mr Benthams work to take precedence of my work on Victor. plants,2 I must beg of you to arrange kindly that the most scrupulous care is taken in the remission of the specimens, in order that as far as we can control it any loss is avoided and no chasm may break into the material of the Flora of Victoria3 The latter work will after a while be resumed again.4

It is my intention to send pr Monarch at the beginning of next month the rest of the Leguminosae & by the Norfolk in the midst of September the material for the small families, which Mr Bentham intends to incorporate in vol II. I was much pleased with the illustration of Coccoloba in the Bot Mag.5

Ever with grateful regards and ardent wishes for your health

yours

Ferd Mueller

By the Yorkshire in the beginning of this month I forwarded case N. 14 with Acaciae. By the Roxburgh Castle N. 17 end of June also Acaciae, by the Anglesey in the beginning of June case N. 12 with Acaciae. I should regard it a great favor if you would cause some of my empty Wardian cases at Kew to be refilled. I have of late had little of interest for my two conservatories from home, and am anxious to show from time to time important novelties to satisfy public interest.
