December 30 [186]31
Sir
The Council of the Acclimatisation Society having decided to hold a monthly evening meeting of the Members of the Society, I am directed by the Council to enquire whether the Hall of the Royal Society could be lent to the Council for this purpose. The evening named is the first Tuesday in each month after the full moon. I would just state that the suggestion of asking for the Royal Society's Hall was first mooted by two or three members of that Society. Waiting the favor of a reply2

Reply not found, but at the meeting of the Council of the Acclimatisation Society held on 5 January 1864 'a letter was read from the Royal Society, granting the use of their hall for the evening meetings of the Acclimatisation Society, provided all expenses was defrayed by the Society. The secretary was directed to write and thank the Royal Society for the concession, and to intimate that any members of that society would be gladly welcomed to the proposed meetings (Argus, 7 January 1864, p. 5).
