M to J. Toon, 8 January 1864 (in this edition as 64-01-08a), is M's reply. In a later letter (J. Toon to M, 26 February 1864), the date of the exhibition was set for 26 March.
Letter not found; item is an entry in the minutes of the meeting of the Horticultural Society of Victoria held on 3 February 1864. Toon was Honorary Secretary of the Society.
