Hochverehrter Herr Professor.

Mein Freund der Herr Freiherr v. Bodin hat wiederum £2 zu dem nordafrikanischen Reisefond beigetragen, welche ich hiermit übersende.

Ich habe diesen Morgen in einer Kiste, welche ich an den ehrwürdigen Sir Will. Hooker zu senden hatte, Ihnen eine Anzahl statistischer Documente, die mir Mr Wadsworth aus des Gouverneurs Privat Secretariat verschaffte, an Sie abgesandt, ebenso im Auftrag unserer königl Gesellschaft alle die Bände, welche wir bisher veröffentlicht haben. In meinem letzten Briefe schloss ich einen Wechsel für £10 bei, den Sie als Beitrag von meiner Seite für dies Jahr zum nordafrik. Reiseunternehmen hinnehmen wollen.

Stets bereit Ihrer schönen Anstalt u den andern wissensch. Instituten Ihres Landes zu dienen bleibe ich

Die Kiste an Sir William geht mit dem berühmten Schiffe Great Britain ab u mag Ende März in Kew sein, von wo Ihr Theil an Hr Trübner abgeliefert werden wird.

Esteemed Professor,

My friend, Baron von Bodin, has again contributed £2 to the North-African expedition Fund, which I transmit herewith.2

In a case, which I had to send to the venerable Sir William Hooker this morning,3 I have dispatched a number of statistical documents to you, obtained for me by Mr Wadsworth from the private secretary's office of the Governor, also on behalf of our Royal Society all the volumes we have published to date.4 In my last letter I enclosed a bill of exchange for £10,5 which I ask you to accept as a contribution on my part to the North African expedition enterprise.

The case to Sir William is dispatched by the famous ship Great Britain and could arrive in Kew by the end of March, where your enclosure will be passed on to Mr Trübner.
