To George Bentham    21 March 1864

21/3/64.

Dear Mr Bentham

As I had no letter from you by last mail I need not write to you but on a few trifling subjects. From the enclosed note you will perceive, that the money for vol II is sent already by last mail.1 I have just passed the first portion of fragm. XXVII through the press & introduced into it Echinocarpus Australis as Sloanea Australis, to which genus in reality all Echinocarpi belong.2 I herewith send you a flowering specimen.

Will you bear in mind that Prof Lange has published in the last seed Catalogue of Copenhagen a Sutherlandia foliolata.3 I have no doubt it is a Swainsona. I have been engaged in placing the plants of various families into something like order. AmongstEpacrideae I have several new species & a remarkable new genus with connate anthers, to which I have given in the current number of the fragmenta the name Michiea.4

With kindest regards

yours

Ferd. Mueller.
