From unknown correspondent in Palermo to Ferdinand von Mueller   [Aug 1864]

[Other letters were laid before the council by Dr. Mueller, from his correspondents at Moscow and Palermo, acknowledged having received the black swans and ducks sent by the society from here.]1

Earlier letters from presumably the same correspondents were returned to M with G. Sprigg to M, 11 May 1864.

Letter not found. For the text given here, see the report of the meeting of the Council of the Acclimatisation Society of Victoria, 18 October 1864 (Argus, 20 October 1864, p. 5). The Palermo correspondent has not been positively identified, but Agostino Todaro was Director of the Palermo botanical garden, to which M is known to have sent plants, and Secretary of the Sicilian Acclimatisation Society; see Società di Acclimazione e di Agricoltura in Sicilia to M, 27 March 1863. The letter is dated to August as the last probable date it could have been written to arrive in Melbourne by October.
