[Other letters were laid before the council by Dr. Mueller, from his correspondents at Moscow and Palermo, acknowledged having received the black swans and ducks sent by the society from here.]1
Earlier letters from presumably the same correspondents were returned to M with G. Sprigg to M, 11 May 1864.
Letter not found. For the text given here, see the report of the meeting of the Council of the Acclimatisation Society of Victoria, 18 October 1864 (Argus, 20 October 1864, p. 5). The letter is dated to August as the last probable date it could have been written to arrive in Melbourne by October. M is known to have been corresponding with N. Saenger in Moscow at about this time; see N. Saenger to M, February 1865 (in this edition as 65-02-00c); he may also have been corresponding with Count A. Bobrinsky, with whom George Sprigg was corresponding at the time on behalf of the Acclimatisation Society of Victoria.
