From Ferdinand von Mueller to the Council, Acclimatisation Society of Victoria   [Sep 1864]1

[Dr Mueller stated by letter that a large proportion of the Cork oaks plants which came per Golden South,2 had arrived in excellent order and would, he hoped, do well here].

Letter not found. See report of Council meeting of 13 September 'Acclimatisation Society of Victoria', Ballarat star, 15 September 1864, p. 2.

Arrived 7 September 1864 (Argus, 8 September 1864, p. 4). M complained that the consignment, which came from Kew, had been addressed to the 'Acclimation Society' rather than to M; see M to J. Hooker, 24 September 1864 (in this edition as 64-09-24a). See also J. Hooker to M, 2 December 1864.

M continued to solicit cork oaks from Kew after this shipment arrived; see M to J. Hooker, 25 October 1864 (in this edition as 64-10-25a).
