[Read letter from Dr Mueller dated 7th inst stating that it would be wise to arrange the exhibition of the Society as not to clash with a Fete to be held by Lady Darling in November.]1
See also M to J. Toon, 26 August 1864 (in this edition as 64-08-26c) and notes thereto. In that letter M advised the Society that a possible clash with a bazaar in aid of St John's Church Toorak should be avoided. Lady Darling was the designated manager of the event, advertised in early November for the Botanic Garden, but transferred to the Exhibition Building.
The meeting proposed that the exhibition be held on 12 November, subject to the date of Lady Darling's event. M, who was present at the meeting, 'undertook to see Lady Darling on the subject and inform the Honorary Secretary without delay'. The Society's exhibition was held in 12 November (Horticultural Society of Victoria exhibition, Argus, 14 November 1864, p. 7).
Letter not found; item is an entry in the minutes of a meeting of the Horticultural Society of Victoria held on 28 September 1864. Toon was the Honorary Secretary of the Society.
