[Dr Ferd. Müller informs me in a letter of 21 January this year that that statement is most definitely incorrect, and he himself had known a Black from the Murray tribe who gave birth to two children by fathers of the white race and then brought forth a real child of the Australian race.1]
The assertion that women who gave birth to mixed-race children could not thereafter have children with black fathers had appeared in the Report of the select committee of the Legislative Council on the Aborigines (Melbourne, 1859).
