In reference to the request contained in your letter of the 26th June last,2 addressed to H E. Governor Hampton, to be furnished with such specimens of the poison plants of this Colony as would enable you to experiment on them, I have much pleasure, by direction of His Excellency, in forwarding to your address three specimens of these plants,3 which have been collected expressly for the object you have in view, and which are known here as the Rock Poison Plant, York road Poison Plant, and the Box Poison Plant.

Governor Hampton trusts that these specimens will be sufficient for your purpose and directs me to add that he will feel obliged by any information in regard to them, which you may be able at any future time to afford.
