Verehrter Herr Professor

Mit dem Schiffe "Great Britain" habe ich wiederum eine sehr grosse Kiste Algen an Sie abgesandt u bitte dem Herrn Prof Agardh von allen Arten abzugeben, da nach den Angaben in seinem Werke Ihr gelehrter Freund aus meinen Sammlungen nichts besitzt. Ich habe für Ihr Museum Harz von Eucalyptus obliqua, Xanthorrhoea Australis, Callitris verrucosa und Eucalyptus amygdalina hinzugefügt. Das Schiff verliess den Hafen am 14 d. M.

Ich habe 2 neue Bände für Sie bereit liegen, den 4ten Band der Fragmenta u einen tüchtigen Band der Pflanzen Victorias illustrirt. Diese müssen mit Segelschiff gesandt werden.

Ich habe es gewagt Ihrer Fräulein Tochter einen Brief des Anrufs der Damen Victorias für Leichhardt Aufsuchung zu senden.

Vielleicht finden sich unter den hohen Damen Schwedens einige die dem edlen Unternehmen ihre Hilfe zuwenden möchten.

Esteemed Professor,

I have once more transmitted a very large case of algae to you by the ship "Great Britain",¹ and ask you to give some material of all species to Professor Agardh as, according to the citations in his work,² your learned friend has none of my collections. I have enclosed resin of Eucalyptus obliqua, Xanthorrhoea australis and Eucalyptus amygdalina for your Museum. The ship departed from the harbour here on the 14th inst.

I have two new volumes ready waiting for you, the 4th volume of the Fragmenta and a solid volume on the plants of Victoria illustrated.³ These will have to be sent by sailing ship.

I have taken the liberty to send to your daughter a letter with the appeal by the ladies of Victoria on the search for Leichhardt.⁴ Perhaps some may be found among the high-minded Swedish ladies, who would pledge their help to the noble enterprise.
