From Frederick Barlee   19 May 1865

19th [May 1865]1

Dr Mueller F.R.S.

Melbourne

I have to acknowledge your letter of the 24th Ultimo,2 and to convey to you the best thanks of His Excellency Governor Hampton for your promise rigorously to examine the specimens of Poison Plant forwarded to you in March last,3 and to report the result of your investigations for His Excellency's information.

I am now directed to transmit some additional specimens of supposed Poison Plants collected in the newly explored North and East Districts of this Colony, which his Excellency trusts will be of interest in your scientific pursuits.4

The Specimen from the North District was found in the vicinity of Camden Harbor5 and that from the East District in that portion of the Colony at present being explored by Mr C. C. Hunt, whose route may be seen marked on the enclosed Map, and a Copy of whose remarks I do myself the honor to enclose.6
