To George Bentham   25 May 1865

25/5/65

Dear Mr Bentham.

Your letter of the 26/3 has arrived. Probably by the Sussex, to sail in about 2 weeks, I shall send you a box with specimens supplementing the material for vol. 3.1 It will contain a good many Myrtaceae, the new ones of which I have mostly described, also 2 or 3 Cucurbitaceae &c not before in my collection. The £100 for the 3. vol. are granted on my application, but the remittance can only be effected by the June mail.

I have formed of Nuytsia ligustrina a genus (Atkinsonia) The fruit is not winged & the albumen deeply 6-cleft.2 I have to furnish you with notes on the geographic distribution of the Myrtaceae & spec. of other orders to be drawn into the 3. volume; but can do this only by next mail, as the arrangements for Leichhardts search prevent me getting leisure looking over the notes at this moment

Yours regardfully

Ferd. Mueller

Atkinsonia

Cucurbitaceae

Myrtaceae

Bentham (1863-78), vol. 3.
Contrast with M to G. Bentham, 21 April 1865, where the albumen is described as 8-furrowed.
