Melbourne botanic Garden
26/7/65.
Sir
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of a package of plants transmitted by last mail through the order of his Excellency the Governor of West Australia for my examination. I shall not fail to report on the results of my enquiry whenever closed.1
Should any new maps of districts of West Australia be published, I should feel grateful for a copy for transmission to the great Geographer Prof. Dr August Petermann of Gotha.2
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
your most obedient servant
Ferd. Mueller
The honorable the Colonial Secretary of W. Australia.
Consignments of supposed poisonous plants had been sent to M for examination early in 1865 (F. Barlee to M, 20 March 1865), and additional specimens from newly explored areas were sent in May (F. Barlee to M, 19 May 1665 (in this edition as 65-05-19b)), which may be package referred to here. No other similar consignment notice has been found for 1865.
MS annotation by Barlee: 'Will be sent when there are any'.
