[Some days ago I sent you a box by rail containing plants and books from a consignment of Dr Ferd Mueller. The latter writes to me that it would be very desirable for him if you would give him some volumes of the Linnaea in exchange.]1
Sonder's letter to Schlechtendal concludes 'Ich befördere mit Ende dieses Monats eine Kiste nach Melbourne und kann ein Packet beilegen, wenn Sie mir solches bis zum 25ten zusenden können ' [I am sending a box to Melbourne at the end of this month and can enclose a package if you can send it to me by the 25th].
Extract from W. Sonder to D. von Schlechtendal, 10 November 1865, a version of which was published in Tkach et al. (2022), Brief 39. Early September 1865 is the latest likely date for M to have written to Sonder and the letter is dated accordingly.
