A letter from Wilson to Kippist, 28 July 1865, filed with this certificate, reported that 'Dr F. Mueller … in a late letter to me [letter not found] stated that "Mr Kippist the Librarian of the Linnean Society, was anxious that I should become a Fellow and that he" (Dr, Mueller) "had recommended me to the Fellowship"'. Wilson sought membership and gave a list of persons in London with whom he was in correspondence, including his first cousin Alfred Russel Wallace, and J. C Stephens (sic) 'since deceased'. Samuel Stevens, who now ran the J. C. Stevens Natural History business, was the treasurer of the Entomological Society of London. Wilson's details given here are from his letter to Kippist.
