From John Moore to Ferdinand von Mueller   13 Dec 1865

13th December 1865

The Chief Secretary is informed that instances are lately so numerous of expenditure being incurred by heads of Departments in excess of the sums authorized in their favour by His Excellency the Governor, that the Commissioners of Audit have deemed it necessary to make it the subject of a special report; and he directs me to state, that as he would be very unwilling to hear that such a breach of the regulations was attributed to your Department, he trusts that all due precaution may be taken to guard against furnishing the Commissioners with any grounds for including it in the list of those that call for censure.

Sd J. Moore
