I Hereby beg to propose Gerhard Krefft Esq. Director of the Museum of Sydney, for a Fellowship of the Linnean Society. Mr Krefft is personally known to me as an excellent naturalist & acquired celebrity for his researches into the zoological treasures of New South Wales.

Kreft was formally proposed on 19 April 1866 on a MS certificate in Richard Kippist’s (?) hand, signed ‘Ferdinand Müller (by letter) | Geo Busk | Fredk Currey | Geo Macleay’. He was described as ‘Gerhard Krefft, Esqr, Correspg Member Zool. Soc,, &c, Director of the Australian Museum Sydney, … and an excellent Zoological Observer’.
