From Edmund FitzGibbon to Ferdinand von Mueller   24 Mar 1866

Town Clerk's Office

Town Hall, Melbourne

24th March 1866

My dear Dr Mueller

I am much obliged for your letter of to day1 [acquainting]2 me that persons are in the habit of [shooting in] the Yarra Park and destroying the [ducks on the] lagoons. I have at once written to the Chief Commissioner of Police asking that persons so offending may be arrested.3 I have also given directions for the [...] best possible enforcement of the provisions of the Dog Act.

In respect to the planting of willows along the river bank I believe that instructions upon the subject are to be given to Mr Hyndman the gardener employed under the Corporation.

I am my dear Dr Mueller

Yours very faithfully

E. G. FitzGibbon

Town Clerk.

Dr F Mueller
