Mit Bezugnahmen auf die Allerhöchste Entschliessung von 9 November v. J. durch welche Sr Königliche Hoheit der Grossherzog Sie zum Ritter des Grossherzoglichen Hausordens der Wendischen Krone ernannt haben, erfülle ich als Canzler dieses Ordens die angenehme Pflicht, Ihnen die Insignien desselben anliegend zu übermitteln, indem ich Grund habe anzunehmen, dass Sie in Ihrem Schreiben vom 22 Febr d. J. des Empfanges der Insignien des Ordens nur in der Voraussetzung erwähnt haben dass dieselben noch in Ihre Hände gelangen würden, eine Voraussetzung, welche sich bisher nicht bestätigt haben wird.

With reference to His Majesty's resolution of 9 November last year by which His Royal Highness the Grand Duke appointed you as knight of the grand-ducal order of the Wendish Crown,2 as chancellor of this order, I am carrying out the pleasant duty to send you the insignia of it enclosed, having supposed that you in your letter of 22 February this year3 have mentioned the receipt of the insignia of the order only on the assumption that it would still arrive in your hands, an assumption that until now will not have been confirmed.4
