To Joseph Hooker 1    May 1866

[May] 1866 2

Is there any means of obtaining the extraordinar plants, which form such a prominent feature in the landscape of the Canary Islands? I mean Euphorbia Canariensis, Cacalia Kleinii, Dracaena, Draco, Quercus Canariensis, Hedera Canariensis &c. All would thrive so well in this country.

With kindest regards

Ferd Mueller.

I shall send a good collection of seeds by next mail, from this autumnal harvest. Did the orchids arrive & [grow]3

Cacalia Kleinii

Dracaena Draco

Euphorbia Canariensis

Hedera Canariensis

Quercus Canariensis

MS annotation by Hooker: 'Received [Jy] 1866 without date / JH'
editorial addition.Dated on the basis of month of arrival at Kew and reference to autumn seed harvest. The ‘parcel of seeds, 238 species’ mentioned in M to J. Hooker, 28 May 1866 (in this edition as 66-06-28b) is likely to be the transmission anticipated here, supporting a date of May 1866 for this fragment.
See M to J. Hooker, 6 December 1865.
