M's requisition was approved and returned. A contract for 'Excavating earth from bed of lagoon, and forming embankment therewith, at the Botanic Gardens, Melbourne, at 8d per cubic yard' was let to Mathew Evans (Victoria Government gazette, 18 May 1866, p. 1075).
