Kew June 27/661
Dear Mueller
Smith came to tell me that he omitted to send the Crocus by last mail accidentally. As they are dormant it is not of much consequence, they shall go by next.
I hope the Papyrus seed will grow it is quite ripe & good.
Thanks for the seeds which are always useful.
We have a vast number of trees & shrubs growing for you but few herbaceous plants. The small Xanthorrhoea is doing well. We want some bigger kinds.
Mniarum we never raised, please send us some good seed.
Barklya is doing well
Pterostylis concinna &c Microtis are flowering.
Clianthus Dampieri has been superb this year.
Mr Baker will complete the Synopsis Filicum.2 Hardwick is the publisher I am sorry that I have not a single copy to send you but will order one out by post.
I am so glad that our Caladia & Cacti have given you satisfaction.3 Orchids fetch such high prices that we do not get good stocks given us but we are corresponding for West Indian kinds to send you.
Let me know if you want Mesembryanthema, Cacti, Stapelias, Aloes, Cape Bulbs & other succulents; we have just now a skilful propagator of these things & it is well to take advantage of this.
Ever sincerely Yrs
Jos D Hooker
