From Ferdinand von Mueller to Thomas Purves   13 July 1866

13th July 1866

Sir

I have the honor to inform you, that the Honble The Chief Secy has been pleased to concede on my recommendation to the H. Imp. Society the concession to hold their vernal Exhibition in the Botanic Gardens on the 20th October under the ordinary regulations and arrangements formerly in place.1 I am Sir

Yours &c

(Signed) Fred2 Mueller.

The Society subsequently decided not to hold the show because of the International Exhibition being held in Melbourne at the same time, on the ground that 'it would prove injurious to the interests of the Society'; see the Society's minutes, 24 September 1866 and 21 January 1867.
