Botan. Gard. 1.10/66
Received from Dr F. Mueller one pound seven shillings for eighteen days labor, at 1/6 pr day assisting carpenter in planing wood specimens for the Exhibition1
L. Petersen
£1.7.0
The low rate of pay indicates that Petersen was a junior, probably a son of the carpenter Henry Petersen who was preparing timber specimens for the Exhibition; see H. Petersen to M, 1 October 1866 (in this edition as 66-10-01a), and M's reference, some years later, to Henry Petersen's having children who were by then adults (M to J. McCulloch, 3 October 1870).
MS is annotated 'No 44' of 74 receipts covering materials supplied for the Intercolonial Exhibition of Australasia, Melbourne, 1866-7, for which M was one of the Commissioners.
