To Joseph Hooker   25 January 1867

25/1/67

I am afraid, dear Dr Hooker, you will be discontent, when you see the list of things I despatched to you by "Great Britain", because I burden therewith some transit immodestly on your department. However I suppose you have some means of effecting the transmission of the 6 parcels supplemental Euphorbiaceae to Baillon (Lycée Napoléon) & the parcel of feegee1 plants & box of orchid tubers to Dr Seeman. The mosses I would like to have named by Mitten & any not particularly valuable to him to be returned to me2 36 Sp. seeds are for Kew. So also a box of Orchid tubers supplementing the sending effected by the December Mail.3 The little consignments to Prof Balfour, the Horticult. Society & the Belgian Consul you will doubtless kindly arrange.

I trust you will receive the box with living plants all right, if it was only for the sake of the Ranunculus Lyallii

It is not necessary to send any of my Fungi to the Rev Mr Berkeley, if you think that some other mycologist has more leisure to work on them. I leave this to your discretion
