To Joseph Hooker   28 April 1867

28/4/67

In my letters, posted this morning, dear Dr Hooker, I omitted to mention, that should poor Harveys widow in any way be interested in the monetary proceeds of the phycologia, let then, pray, at once the sum I am still charged be paid in full, otherwise please use your own discretion.1 I ought perhaps to be more liberal, but really after 20 years stay in Australia I am finally almost worse off than when I came & must thus husband my slender resources, otherwise I shall never be able to establish a domestic home.

I send you some paper samples. Should you have received them already from Government direct, pray give these small bits to some other phytologic Museum.2

I have commenced a tabellar3 statistic of all plants of Australia, in which medicinal, technological, geographical &c indications are given. I shall complete it as a byework.4

Could not Prof Balfour send you a small off-shoot of Mesembryanthemum tegens. It reached Edinburgh quite safely.5 Should "Enhydra" not be changed to Meyera or Sobreyra as it is also a zoologic name!6
