From Ferdinand von Mueller to John Toon   1 May 1867

[Read letter from Dr Mueller apologising for his absence from meeting.]1

M sent 'a specimen plant of the long podded radish (Raphanus caudatus) having edible pods, also a pot of Polygonum tinctorium a valuable dye plant from China', for exhibition at the meeting of 1 May 1867.

Toon was Honorary secretary of the Horticultural Society of Victoria. Letter not found; it was minuted at the meeting held on 1 May 1867 and is dated to the same day since this was when M customarily sent his apology if he was unable to attend a meeting.
