Melbourne bot. Gard.

Verehrter Herr.
Mich Ihnen bestens empfehlend zeichnet
Achtungsvoll
Ihr ergebener
Ferd. Mueller
Herrn Professor Parlatore
Melbourne Botanic Garden,

Dear Sir,
I am particularly anxious to introduce here some of our European field and water plants etc., which would probably thrive quite well here in suitable, selected situations, not only to use them for the beautification of the lake in the botanic Gardens and in its vicinity, but also to introduce them into the open in our mountain valleys and swamps etc. I therefore take the liberty, to ask you to have seeds collected as mentioned below and of other similar plants, as the opportunity presents itself, and to send them to me. I will gladly send you Australian seeds in exchange for them. Among others I should like to obtain Lysimachia thyrsiflora, Lychnis flors cuculi, Convalaria1 biflora, Circaea lutetiana, Paris quadrifolia, Glaux maritima, Butomus umbellatus, Sagittaria sagittifolia, Menyanthes trifoliata, Parnassia palustris, Pinguicula &c., &c., as well as a collection complete as possible of Salix and Rubus, and I would be very grateful to you for their transmission.
Commending myself to you, I sign
respectfully
your devoted
Ferd. Mueller.
Professor Parlatore.
