To [Joseph Hooker] 1    July 1867

Since I examined the fruit of Nuytsia I had occasion to examine also that of Loranthus celastroides and find 2 or 3 cotyledons!

Loranthus celastroides

Nuytsia

MS annotation in pencil in an unknown hand: 'vol iii', i.e, Bentham (1862 – 83), vol 3: see pp 387, 389). The correspondent is conjectural. It is most likely to have been Hooker, as a follow-up to the comment on the embryo of Nuytsia in M to J. Hooker, 15 May 1867. M reported the structure of the embryo of Loranthus celastroides in B68.13.01, and the fragment is dated on the assumption that the earliest it could have been written was June 1867; the earliest known letter with which it could have been enclosed is M to J. Hooker, 25 July 1867.
