The letter from the Under-Secretary, enclosing a letter from Thomas Elder of South Australia about the stray camels, was read at the meeting of the Victorian Acclimatisation Society on 6 August 1867, at which Sprigg was 'directed to make the necessary inquiries, and to inform the Under Secretary of the result' (Australasian (Melbourne), 10 August 1867, p. 168). The outcome of Sprigg's enquiries has not been found.
