Ich weiss nicht, verehrter Herr Professor, ob ein Druck über M'Intyre´s Reise mit etwa 5 Graden neuen Zuges u manchen neuen geographischen Localitäten bei Ihnen eintraf. Wenn nicht, muss ich diese wichtige Nachricht erneuen. Von Zeit zu Zeit haben Sie mir freundlichst Ihre werthen Mittheilungen zugesandt, für welche ich dankbar verpflichtet bin. Im Jahr 1868 werden wieder neue Forschungsparthien in Australien im Felde sein.

Der Neffe Ihres edlen Fürsten ist seit einigen Tagen hier u Sr. Königl Hoheit ist eine wahrhaft triumphhafte Ovation gebracht. Gestern war Levée, der ich beitrat. Heute Ball beim Gouverneur u da will ich versuchen, ob auf des Prinzen Reise nichts für die Erforschung der Osterinseln geschehen kann. Morgen wird ein grossartiges Volksfest auf meinem Parkgrund dem Prinzen zu Ehren Statt finden. Alles dies erheischt meine Aufmerksamkeit. So scheide ich denn mit einem hastigen aber herzlichen Gruss.

I do not know, esteemed Professor, if a publication about McIntyre's expedition,2 showing about 5 degrees of further travels and quite a few new geographical localities has reached you. If not, I shall have to repeat this important news. You have been so kind to send me your valued Mittheilungen 3 from time to time, and I am gratefully obliged to you for these. New exploration parties will once again be in the field in Australia in 1868.

The nephew of your noble Sovereign4 has been here for a few days, and a truly triumphal ovation was offered to His Royal Highness. Yesterday there was a levee that I attended. Today is the Governor's5 ball and I shall see there whether something cannot be done about the exploration of Easter Island during the Prince's voyage. Tomorrow a magnificent people's festival in honour of the Prince will take place in my grounds. All this requires my attention. So I say farewell with a hasty but sincere greeting.
