From Ferdinand von Mueller to George Story   12 Feb 1868

Melb. bot. Garden

12/2/68.

Let me thank you, dear Dr Story, for your kind letter of 31 Jan,1 just received. I have sent to the Roy. Soc. of Tasmania notes on such plants only as are particularly rare or not at all contained in Dr Hookers work.2 These notes, if acceptable to the Society, I can from time to time enlarge & thus do justice to any of your sendings. At all events your plants will duely be taken notice of in the "Australian flora",3 of which the 4th vol is under elaboration. The little Euphorbiaceous plant sent by you is not the Euphorbia Chamaesyce but Brogniart's4 Poranthera microphylla. You sent further in your last letter my Calocephalus Brownii your Silversail5 (a composite with white flower-heads), R. Brown's Cassinia spectabilis (with panicles of yellow [shining] flowers) and J. Hooker's Phyllanthus Gunnii.

Your wish for Rhubarb seeds or roots &c shall have due attention at the proper season

your very regardful
