From Ferdinand von Mueller to John Moore   18 May 1868

Melbourne botan Garden

18/5/68

Sir

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of 2 copies of the 19 fasc. of Capt Beddomes work on Indian ferns, which the Chief Secretary has been pleased to send to the Library of this Institution.1 I beg to return the receipt form for your kind signature.2

I have the honor to be, Sir, your very obed.

Ferd Mueller.

J. Moore Esq. J.P. &c &c

Undersecretary

Beddome (1866-8), transmitted with J. Moore to M, 18 May 1868 (in this edition as 68-05-18a). See Lucas (2026) for discussion of the dates of publication of the parts.

The Government of Madras evidently enclosed a receipt form when items were sent to the Chief Secretary of Victoria, which were then sent to M with the items; see M to J. McCulloch, 15 January 1868, for a case when there was apparently no standard transmission letter to M from the Chief Secretary's Office, but the Madras receipt form was sent to him with the volumes.
